5 hour round of golf
The new starter is pairing folks up, and the club house has figured out that GolfNow bookings do exist, but allowing walk-ons when the tee sheet is full creates a recipe for a 5 hour round of golf. There were 4-6 carts on each hole as far as my eyes could see. Making progress, but not there yet.
Much better!
There was another starter and different clubhouse staff this week, and a much better experience. Course is greening up nicely, and greens are looking much better than I’d thought they would just a couple weeks ago.
Great place to play but needs work especially the greens
Two 18s great courses. Needs some work on the greens especially.
What a waste
I’m a Veteran that has played Ft. Jackson for almost 20 years. The starter they have now consistently sends off singles and doubles on Saturday morning (many are walk-ups with no tee time). This is very inefficient vs. threesomes/foursomes. I can’t get a rhythm with the pace/waiting created by this insanity, and he doesn’t even try to pair anyone despite opportunities to do so. There is no food except some refrigerated pre-made sandwiches and crackers/candy…used to be a full bar and restaurant but those days are gone. Course conditions are mediocre at best. Staff does not understand that GolfNow sells a 12:03 HotDeal in addition to their internal 12:06, which has been the arrangement for well over a year. They argue with me about having a 12:03 several times a month 😂
They don’t know how to handle golf now tee times just yet due to it being a military base and cannot give golf now access to tee sheets. Our tee time was “hand entered” 35 mins after we actually booked it online and had to wait. They were very apologetic as they were figuring it out. Would recommend booking on the phone.
The Army’s best
Fort Jackson has two courses that are both open to the public. The Wildcat course is the longer and more difficult of the two. There are no water hazards but there are many bunkers and significant elevation changes. This was the third time I’ve played there and plan to again soon.
Another terrible experience
There were 11 carts in line to tee off on the Wildcat course 5 mins before my tee time. The starter was hiding again, and the clubhouse staff told me a large group had been booked on Wildcat so I’d been moved to Old Hickory. I hate Old Hickory, from both layout and course condition perspectives and honestly I would have played somewhere else had I known I wouldn’t be playing Wildcat as I had booked. Old Hickory was slammed and the pace of play was terrible. I left after 7 holes. It will be a while before I spend my money at Ft. Jackson again.
Great course
For a military base this is a 5 star course. Make sure you get there early so you can get your visitor pass. The staff were very nice and helpful with any questions. For March, the greens were in great condition. Fairways are starting to come back as well. Definitely going to be playing here this summer.
Greens were great this day
Old Hickory was in great shape this day and greens were great
Great Value
The course was very playable and the pace of play was good. Great value for the price.
More over site needed
Good course but starters and over site needed
Greens need to be rolled and sand traps need work
