Heron Lakes Golf Club - Great Blue Course
Played On 07/11/2019Course Conditions have significantly dropped!
This is a Robert Trent Jones Jr designed course. I have played this course numerous times over the past 15 years. It "was" one of the best Muni courses in the country!
Haven't played this course in 2 years and discovered that the course conditions have drastically dropped. The greens used to be between and 11 - 12, and sometimes in July or August a 13! Now a 9. The fairways are now like an average rough, the sand traps are poor and in need of maintenance - see photo. This course a 7-8 (out of 10), now maybe a 4 - just above being a mowed down cow pasture.
Oak Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/10/2019Downgrade - Poor conditions
Played this course last year = No drought here! Very Lush - great conditions! Now - maybe they received a BIG fine, whatever, course conditions now our Poor/average at best. Gopher holes, dry, poorly managed, etc. Greens were fast though. Driving range - POOR! Tip to course - change the location of where you can hit from more frequently, I (and others) were hitting off of dirt! Range balls way too expensive!!! Never saw a Marshall during 5 hour round! Other players we encountered were rich snobs! Better to play somewhere else until changes are made - fairly well greatly over-priced based upon todays conditions.
Black Gold Golf Club
Played On 01/09/2019Too Slow of Play!
Course layout OK, a few too many blind spots = expect group behind you to hit into to you!
Cart GPS does NOT provide location of carts in front.
Greens in good shape.
Played on a Wednesday - over 5.5 hours! Too slow to consider playing again! Rate too high for pace of play.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 01/02/2019Slow Pace of Play Makes Me Not Want to Come Back
Nice/OK lay out, would be Good or better but there are several holes where the fairway drops down and you can't see the group in front.
Pace of play is poor! Almost 5 hours on a Wednesday.
Greens were in excellent shape - especially for January.
Westridge Golf Club
Played On 08/21/2018Poor Course Conditions - going down hill and slow play
This course when first opened was in excellent shape and kept in good condition. Course condition today is poor, it has gone down hill over the years and much over the past year. Staff not too accommodating. Driving range and logistics are poor. I regret playing this course!
Kenny Perry's Country Creek Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2018Mowed Down Cow Pasture
Played this course solely based upon name of Kenney Perry. Course is nothing more than a mowed down cow pasture, and that is probably an insult to many Cow Pastures. Lay out very plain, course conditions poor -to - fair, it had rained lately but that is not why the rating. Pace of play very slow. They only had the front nine opened, so you had to play that twice, but they didn't tell you that until you checked in. But - I saw some playing the back nine - probably "local yocals".
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 02/06/2018Most of Course and Staff, but not all!
Most of the course layout and conditions are good. However, there are a few holes that are very poorly laid out and designed. Almost the same for the Staff, all but one were very friendly and accommodating, however the starter was very non-accommodating. almost to the point of wanting to go back to the pro shop and cancel.

Played On 11/21/2017SLOW - Not Worthy It!
Played on a Tuesday, I've played this course several times in the past, the course layout is good, the course conditions were good, the Staff was friendly, driving range, chipping green etc. is good. The costs is "OK", but - the Pace of Play was EXTREMELY SLOW - pace was a 6+ hour round - way too slow for any day, let alone a Tuesday.
Regardless of course conditions, rate, a 6+ hour pace of play makes this course NOT WORTH IT!
Chimera Golf Club
Played On 01/17/2017SLOW - Course did nothing
A very nice course, good conditions, moderate difficulty but very playable.
Problem was pace of play. I played on a Tuesday about 12:30, tee time was delayed 20 minutes due to slow play, they made individuals share cart when no need. For a Tuesday, the pace was like July 4th! Or any Holiday is ideal weather. Course Management apparently condones the slow play.
Only saving grace was that I got a VERY low rate - $14 included cart. If I paid anything more than $20 - I would have wanted my money back.
Old Silo Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2016SAD - Owner should sell to a Committed Buyer!
I played this course because Golf Digest listed it as the #2 Best Public Course in Kentucky.
The layout reflects that! It is an excellent challenging layout.
Course conditions - horrible. It appears that the Grounds crew was greatly reduced. Weeds, lack of attention, overgrown plants, grass, bushes - etc. Very Poor condition. The wooden steps walking up to the Pro-shop are breaking apart and are dangerous!. Many holes had no ball washers, and half that did there was no towels, handle broken, no water.
One of the locals that I talked to stated - ever since the owner dies, his son took over and has stopped maintaining the course.
Regardless if true or not - the Owner should sell and allow a Committed Owner to refurbish the course and bring it back to respectability.
The course and grounds condition is pathetic.
I only paid $14 which included a cart - a great buy almost anywhere. But I think I overpaid!
Cherry Blossom Golf Course & Country Club
Played On 09/21/2016OVER RATED
I played this course because it was ranked in the top 5 of Kentucky. WOW - Golf must not be big in Kentucky!
1st off - the Staff at the Pro Shop never looked up to look at me, he kept his eyes on his phone playing a game while at the same time watching Family Guy on the TV - hint - ever heard of the Golf Channel! How about looking your PAYING CUSTOMER in the eyes and say "Welcome!"
2nd - no restrooms on course other than 2 portable toilets.
3rd - cart paths were in bad shape!
4th - Greens were in bad condition.
5th - fairways were OK.
6th - The exception - the layout indicates that this course at one time at real potential.
However, due to the lack of good/proper maintenance with the course, cart path, driving range etc.. - this course is at best Fair. And that does not take into consideration the Staff.
If this were a Hotel, it would be a Super 8 or Best Western, definitely not a Hilton, Marriott, and most definite not a St Regis.
In most States, this course would probably not even be within top 5 in many Counties.
Advise -
If the price is under $15, then acceptable price - better yet - find a better to place to play.
Marriott's Griffin Gate Golf Club
Played On 09/20/2016More Grounds Crew Needed
This is a Marriott Course with a BIG name designer.
I was expecting such.
Overall - this should be a Best Western (or Super 8) Course!
Layout is very good, the greens OK/Good, Fairways good, Club house good.
Now the reason why it should be a Best Western/Super 8 -
No driving range - just cages.
Off the fairways and slightly off the rough - the un-mowed grass and weeds dominate! It appears that the wild areas (which are just off the fairway) has not been touched in months! It makes the course look "trashy"!
If the Grounds crew "CLEANS UP" the surrounding area, then this might be a good looking course. However, in its present condition, it distracts from the course layout and golf experience.
Camas Meadows Golf Club
Played On 02/23/2016Unaccomodating Staff
The Staff was unaccommodating.
Orchard Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/15/2014HORRIBLE SERVICE!
This is a Private Country Club???
Really?
The course conditions were fair at best - closer to a "mowed cow pasture".
I was treated very poorly!!!
Horribly by one "manager".
Do not waste your money playing here.
2 of the Staff were friendly, one was poor in customer service, and one particular staff member needs to be in a different position where he doesn't deal with people. This is not Augusta, nor Riviera - it is at best a slightly below muni course that thinks it is something special - it is far from that.

Couldn't agree more...
