Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort

About
The Palmer Course is one of two championship courses designed by Arnold Palmer at the Saddlebrook Resort just north of Tampa. Although it is seemingly tame at 6,273 yards, it plays much tougher. The golf course features more elevation changes than the resort's other course, the Saddlebrook. The undulating, tree-lined fairways were designed to mimic a hilly New England course but the moss-covered cypresses, palm trees, and marshy swamplands are true to the Florida landscape. The layout features tight fairways framed with contoured mounding and the occasional water hazard but the most formidable challenge comes from the bunkers strategically placed along the undulating greens. The approaches to the tiered greens, which are often sloped from back to front, demand accuracy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag and employ a variety of different shots.

Could be better
Greens were great. Very challenging and in good condition. Staff was very friendly. Other than that, course was average and was very dry. Desperately needs water. I only remember one healthy tee box the whole 18. Would not pay full price to play this course.
Layout of the course was very poor! They’re doing construction and I got lost 4 times. Not much signage to tell you where you’re going.
Amazing course! Everything else ok
What you may reads in reviews is not wrong. I’m sure the pace of play can be slow and the course layout is funky since Saddlebrook switched to 3 9-hole courses. But this course is amazing, truly.
The security guard in the booth out by the main road was zero help and should be fired. He seemed hung over and completely disinterested in giving proper directions to the pro shop which led to 10 minutes of driving around looking.
Valet is the only parking options and you have to then be transported by shuttle to the pro shop. This whole experience is a bit of a hassle.
The guy in the pro shop was very friendly, as was the ranger. So the whole check in process was somewhat rough and dysfunctional.
Also, the course is cut up weird now and you’ll find yourself driving in the main road far too frequently.
However, the condition of the course more than made up for these setbacks. The setting is beautiful and every green, tee box, and fairway was pristine.
In spite of the stressful early process, I will definitely be back!
Course Changes
The layout of the course is really bad. They are trying to update the course layout after taking out 9 holes. They still don't have the correct answer. Wait to play here.
👎
For some some reason they have decided to take two excellent 18 hole courses and chop them up into three nine hole courses….they have “yard sale” type signage directing you to the next hole, sometimes as much as a quarter mile away! The GPS systems on the carts have issues, some don’t even work. What a cluster 😩
Would play again
Visited the area and used Golf Now app. Found a hot deal on this course and booked it. Beautiful course, good layout. My driver wasn't working so I shot 108, however you can go low on this course if you play smart.
Greens are awesome! Rolled very true, with enough speed to make a downhill slider slip quick on you.
Played with my 73 year old father from the back tees, and he kicked my butt. Water is all over the course, but not really in play.
Would 100% play again!
Dated but still has teeth
Enjoyable course with some challenging water holes, would play again.
But the whole resort layout is odd, valet parking is over the top, hard to find the pro shop and even the first tee. But once squared away, a fun diversion.
All the people I met were courteous and helpful.
Good course. Good value
I personally liked the old setup better with the Palmer and Saddlebrook courses. The new 27 hole format has removed some very good holes from the course. Overall the course was still good and greens were very good.
Very friendly staff. Kyle was very helpful! Had a very enjoyable day and look forward to playing again.
Great course
Play the course weekly staff knows me
By name great crew and grounds!
