A forgettable experience
Course was not well marked as to hole direction. There were 3 foursomesomes on every hole and yes that includes par 3's.
It was 5.5 hours. Not a fun golf experience.
5 hr. round. Greens a little rough.
Several holes very close together. Watch out for incoming! Routing of cart paths have carts sometimes park in front of hole requiring players to take longer to clear the way for those waiting to hit. Layout very enjoyable and gives good challenge. Greens are coarse bermuda and a few are not in the best of condition but overall not bad. Main complaint is a 5 hour round!
A real nlce course
Of all the Florida courses we have played, the type of grass on this course is closest to what northern golfers are used to. Not the easiest of courses, but an enjoyable round.
Best value in the area.
Have played here many times and this is the best condition I have ever seen. Fairways & greens were in excellent condition.
Love the layout and fairways.
Greens are shaggy with some greens needing great deal of TLC. Rangers were not visible when play became extremely slow making afternoon a day of watching group in front play golf.
Nice course
Well organized at start, t times seem to be right on time. Course has enough variation to be fun to play, some fairways a little tight with water both sides, reasonably well maintained, greens a little bouncy but good speed. Good value for $$. Most golfers would enjoy a round here.
Enjoyed it .
Well maintained facility. Very scenic. Abundant wildlife. Most holes are fairly open but, water and traps are plentiful, adding to the difficulty and required accuracy. Look forward to playing there again, very soon.
Largo gem
This is a great value in the Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater area. The course conditions are decent, greens very nice and good speed and several par 4s have some good length from the back tees.
For 35 bux in the winter, you can't go wrong.
Pleasantly surprised w/great condition
My foursome was pleasantly surprised with their East Bay experience. I try and book a different course weekly and none of the guys had ever played the course. They had concerns until they got out on the course. Greens and fairways were all in very good condition and there was enough challenge on a number of holes to make it fun to play. The on-cart GPS was a very nice feature and certainly was helpful in determining how far water hazards and bunkers were on each shot. Staff was super friendly. Very good day for us all and we will be back. JJ
An interesting course design with good facilities.
Our experience started with a delayed start. It's the only thing bad I can say about our day. The course is in good shape, the pro sbop is modestly apointed. We had a very good experience. I would recommend this course for anyone except a beginner.
Nice course except for pace of play.
Lots of rye grass for winter play. Haven't played there in years but heard about new owners and they have made condition of fairways and greens really quite good.
Pace of play was abysmal. Early on it looked like a 6 hour round. But some groups ahead of us bailed and it only took 5.
Yipee!
The fairways are in good condition but the greens need a lot of work!
Course has some challenging holes and is in fairly good condition but the greens are in poor shape. We were told at the start they were inconsistent but they are more than that, they are impossible to play in places.
It is a fun course
I like the course and I will play it again. Some of the tee offs need repair.
Course in fair condition but slow play
Like most lower priced courses, East Bay is visited by players with moderate to low golfing skills who may end up with 10 strokes or more. Encouraging Stableford play might speed up the game.
Nice Course, good time in general
Course was very nice, and enjoyable. Grass on Tees and Fairways way pretty high on some holes, but overall, well maintained. Saw 2 bald eagles sitting in a tree on #14 and an alligator on the banks by #17.
Only downside is the starter guy is not overly pleasant. Played this course twice and both times he was less than cordial. Everyone else was very nice.
good value for the money well maintained
offer length and challenge water hazards are pleantiful
this course has some good features
good valve for money, but no ranger to control speed of play
Value for the dollar.
The condition of this course has improved over the last few years. The oak trees on hole number one have 50 years of growth on them since the course was designed and need to be cut back but overall the course plays very fair. The sloping greens were rolling quite well, making uphill putts the goal. Kudos also to Ashley on the beverage cart - great service and made us feel welcome.
Poorly maintained course not worth playing.
A very disappointing experience. The pro shop assistant was offhand and the shop was very poorly stocked. The Starter, though, was friendly and helpful.
The course layout is reasonable, but its condition was very poor. Bunkers had poor sand and many had grass growing in them. The tees were variable but often uneven, with divots unfilled. But the worst aspect were the greens: I have never seen greens in worse condition on a course. The grass coverage was often patchy, there were weeds growing on the putting surface and patches or damage has been 'mended' with sand, not grass. This made putting on them a lottery, as they were inconsistent and the ball often bounced off line, even for short putts.
We certainly wouldn't return or recommend the course to anyone, even at a discounted rate.
Fine course for the money.
East Bay is a good course for the money. A few greens and fairways tended to be a bit "ratty" but the work of the greenskeepers to keep it in "shape" is obvious in a good way. We will return again, as this is one of the best courses for the money on the Suncoast.
