Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will always be golf's all-you-can-eat buffet. Roughly 90 courses call the Grand Strand home, stretching 90 miles from Pawleys Island, S.C. to the southern edges of North Carolina.

There's golf, restaurants and tourist traps (like mini-golf) for every taste and budget. Snowbirds flock to the region in spring and fall for the comfortable golf weather, staying at the high-rises along the beach or in condos at inland resorts such as the 72-hole Barefoot Resort & Club or the 90-hole Legends Golf & Resort. Barefoot features courses by a fab foursome of Greg Norman, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio and Davis Love III.

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club received a refurbishment in 2013 to prepare for 2014 PGA Professional National Championship. Tidewater and the Resort Club at Grande Dunes highlight the handful of courses along the Intracoastal Waterway. The golf courses in Pawleys Island ooze with a Lowcountry vibe. Spanish moss drips from the oaks, and marshes lurk around every dogleg. Mike Strantz designed two masterpieces, True Blue Plantation and Caledonia Golf and Fish Club, side by side. Pawleys Plantation by Jack Nicklaus, the Heritage Club by Dan Maples and the TPC Myrtle Beach by Tom Fazio are strong, too. North Carolina -- home to Rivers Edge, an Arnold Palmer design in Shallotte, and the four "Big Cat" courses of Ocean Ridge Plantation in Sunset Beach -- counters with a Pinehurst-like feel of rolling hills and pine trees.
